The week-end of the 10th and 11th May 2008 saw the Kanazawa Shotokan Ryu, lead by it's Chief Instructor, Mr Jim Palmer 6th Dan S.K.I.F., celebrate a unique series of Anniversaries.

To mark the 25th Anniversary of the Founding of the Club in Stirling by Sensei Palmer, we welcomed Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa, 10th Dan S.K.I.F. who joined the Club to give Courses and conduct Gradings for the members. Kancho Kanazawa was accompanied by his eldest Son, Nobuaki Kanazawa 5th Dan S.K.I.F.

The Week-end also saw Sensei Jim Palmer celebrate his 35th Year in Karate and the 29th Year since he joined the Shotokan Karate-Do International Federation. Kancho Kanazawa, just the week before, had his 77th Birthday. The Club helped him celebrate with a Ceilidh.

Kancho, in his own unique way, blew out the candles on his cake using the Kime from a punch instead of blowing them out with lung power. It was also good to see so many of Kancho's students from around the country join us in the celebrations.

A course and Grading for S.K.I.F. Members was held on the Saturday and an Open Course, conducted for any Karate Student who wished to attend saw over one hundred Students from all over Scotland and England attend on the Sunday.

A Grading for Kyu Grades and Dan Grading took place on the Saturday Afternoon. Congratulations go to All who passed. Especially the Club's New Black Belts.
