Grading November, 2006. Held on the 30th, This was the first Grading since a fire caused the Group to temporarily move to new premisses at the Bannockburn High School.
Palmer Sensei was again firm but fair with all students trying their best.
This was the last event with us for our friends the SUNDARAM family before their departure to "Pastures New". Our best wishes go with them.

Brown & Black Belt Course September, 2006. Held on the 17th, The morning began with the traditional washing of the Dojo floor before Kihon.
Starting with very basic punches, the session progressed through to the Kihon for Nidan. By the time this session ended, the bodies were piling up at the door.
Kumite followed with Gohon, Sanbon and Kihon Ippon being broken down and polished until Palmer Sensei was satisfied with their preformance.
The day ended with Kata and Bunkai practice before the floor was again washed signifying the purification of the Dojo and the respect of the participants.
An excellent course.

Course and Grading August, 2006. Held on the 20th, Palmer Sensei conducted a Course and Grading for Kyu Grades.
The morning session began with Kihon before the class was split into grade groups and everyone was given a last opportunity to practice before that afternoon's grading.
Palmer Sensei was, as usual firm but fair and although some may not have gotten the grade they were hoping for, everyone achieved something.

Stirling Highland Games July 2006. Held on the 9th, A small but dedicated band of Black Belts gave a demonstration to a appreciative crowd. The Yudansha did their best to "Slice and Dice" each other before the Games Chieftain presented Adam Brooker with his Shodan (1st Dan) Certificate.

1 Day Kata Course May, 2006. Held on the 21st, Palmer Sensei, as usual gave a master class in Kata which also utilised the teaching skills of some of the Groups Senior Instructors.
Starting with Heian Sandan, Sensei Mike Russell set the one for the day. Sensei Mike Bowles continued with Kanku Dai then the course split with the lower grades learning Jitte with Sensei Tom Russell and Yudansha learning Chinte with Sensei Jim Palmer.
The small but enthusiastic group of students who attended were treated to a great day's training.

Japanese Blossom Festival May, 2006. Held on the 14th, Having taken part in the "Echoes of Japan" Festival last year, the Kanazawa Shotokan Ryu were invited back to participate in this years Blossom Festival at Lauriston Castle in Edinburgh.
Everyone who took part really gave a superb performance and the demonstration was Warmly received by the crowds.
Special thanks go to all those who took part in this event.

Brown & Black Belt Course April, 2006. Held on the 23rd, Palmer Sensei's first Brown & Black Belt course of 2006 was well attended. Palmer Sensei emphasised quality of technique rather than quantity of knowledge.
All participants left feeling exhausted but with a real sense of improvement in their Kihon.
This course also saw what could be the last opportunity for some time to train with Sensei Mike Bowles as work commitments take him further afield.

Course & Grading by Sensei Manabu Murakami 6th Dan. March 2006. Held on the 16th, Murakami Sensei made his way to the KSR Stirling Dojo to give another outstanding lesson in technique. Gearing the Course to the following Kyu Grade Examination, he gave a superb lesson in Gohon, Sanbon, Kihon Ippon and Juyu Ippon Kumite.
Murakami Sensei's teaching skills are excellent and he soon brought out the best in everyone who took part. We look forward to his next visit in anticipation.

Brown & Black Belt Course January, 2006. Held on the 27th, Kanazawa Shotokan Instructors Sensei's Tom and Mike Russell both 3rd Dan S.K.I.F., held a Brown and Black Belt Course at the Edinburgh Dojo.
This Course gave the ever growing number of high grades the opportunity to practise some of the techniques, applications and drills that are necessary for people holding such rank. Sensei Mike started with a few techniques designed to develope the use of Ki - power then Sensei Tom took the class through Bunkai for Heian Sandan.
An enjoyable course which will be repeated with other High Ranking Instructors teaching.
