Course & GradingJuly, 2005. Held on the 31st, By Chief Instructor, Sensei Jim Palmer 6th Dan S.K.I.F. An early start did not deter the students from Stirling, Edinburgh & Glasgow. They were put through their paces by the Black Belts before sitting their examinations in front of Palmer Sensei.
As always, Palmer Sensei was firm, but fair and the students were pleased with their results. At this time the new Kyu Grades were introduced to the new Belt Scheme which now brings us in line with S.K.I.F. Japan.

Echoes Of Japan Demonstration
July, 2005. Held on the 24th, at Lauriston Castle in Edinburgh. An invitation to take part in this day came from the Japanese Consulate. The day, to commemorate the twinnings of Edinburgh and Kyoto is held every year in the grounds of Lauriston Castle where a Japanese garden was built by gardeners from Kyoto, based on the Ryoan -Ji Temple grounds.
The dempnstration was well received by the crowds of people wh took part in this day of cultural exchanges.

1 Day Kata Course May, 2005. Held on the 22nd, The Kanazawa Shotokan Ryu's Chief Instructor, Sensei Jim Palmer 6th Dan S.K.I.F., held a Kata Masterclass for the small group of people who attended what proved to be the highlight of the Karate Year to date.
Palmer Sensei, broke the Kata down into several phases. Demonstration, explanation, participation, breathing and Bunkei. As always, there seems to be plenty of time to go through Kata but, time just flew by and we only managed to study 3 in depth. A great course and thoroughly recommended to those unfortunate enough to miss it.

Course, Grading and Presentation of Dan Grade Certificates
April, 2005. Held on the 24th, saw Sensei Jim Palmer 6th Dan give a special Course and Grading examination to a number of Kyu Grades. It was also a special day for those who were awarded Dan Grades by Kanazawa Kancho in November 2004 as the Japanese Consul, Mr Nobuyuki Hotta of the Consulate General’s Office in Edinburgh came to present the Dan Grade Certificates which had recently arrived from Tokyo.
Mr Hotta, himself a student of Judo before he left Japan stayed to witness the rest of the Afternoon’s proceedings and enjoyed his visit to the Kanazawa Shotokan Ryu.
